Car to Commercial Vehicle Technician Conversion Course

As a direct response to the Covid-19 pandemic, we have devised a FREE Car to Commercial Conversion Programme to support those from the light vehicle maintenance and repair sector who have been made redundant and to meet the demand from heavy vehicle employers for technicians.

We have created a conversion programme to give those with experience in light vehicle maintenance and repair the foundational skills they need to be able to transition to working in a heavy vehicle maintenance and repair environment.

The course will upskill light vehicle technicians or light vehicle technician apprentices to work on pneumatic brakes, 24-volt electrical systems, heavy diesel engines and roadside recovery safety as a minimum.

For this particular programme there is a strict eligibility criteria as follows:

  • You must have sufficient and relevant experience in an automotive environment, most likely having completed at least Level 2 Light Vehicle Technician apprenticeship (not necessarily with TTS)
  • You must have lost your employment during the Covid-19 pandemic

Upon successful completion of this programme, participants will receive a certificate endorsed by the Institute of Road Transport Engineers (IRTE) and TTS will seek to support participants in securing employment.

If you are a light vehicle technician who does not meet the above criteria or you are a heavy vehicle technician employer and you are interested in this course, please get in touch to discuss your requirements.
