Taxi driver periodic training is a legal requirement for anyone who obtained their taxi driving licence on or after 1st September 2015. Drivers who acquired their licence prior to 1st September 2015 will need to complete Taxi Periodic Training if they wish to renew their licence. All taxi drivers will be subject to the full requirement of 35 hours every five years in order to retain their taxi driving licence.
Taxi Drivers in Northern Ireland will not be able to renew their taxi driver licence until they have completed the required amount of periodic training which must include at least one Disability Awareness course of a minimum of 3.5 hours.
The training must have been delivered by a training provider authorised by the Department for Infrastructure (DfI). TTS is approved by the Joint Approvals Unit for Periodic Training (JAUPT) to deliver Taxi Periodic training.
